The World Gladiators Federation (WGF) is a visionary organization dedicated to uniting, celebrating, and advancing the ancient tradition of gladiatorial combat in the modern world.
Serving as a bridge between the storied past of ancient warriors and the ever-evolving realms of contemporary sports and entertainment, we honour the legacy of those who fought in the arena and strive to make gladiatorial combat a globally recognized sport.
The Roman Gladiators
A Roman gladiator was an ancient professional fighter, typically specialized with specific weapons and types of armour. Gladiators fought in highly popular games held in large arenas across the Roman Empire from 105 BCE to 404 CE (official contests). As these fights often ended in death, gladiators had a short life expectancy.
